Terms of Use
These terms govern your use of RuleGoose (the "Service") — our website and the free compliance checkers, guides, and RuleGoose Score offered on it. By using the Service, you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use it.
The Service is a business tool intended for people aged 18 or over (or the age of majority where you live) using it for a business or professional purpose. By using it you confirm you meet that and that any information you submit is accurate and yours to submit.
The checkers evaluate the answers you provide (or text you paste) against the rules we describe, and return a verdict, findings, and suggested fixes. The optional AI generator drafts compliant-style copy. All of it is informational. We don't guarantee that following RuleGoose makes you compliant, that our rule coverage is complete or current, or that any figure, date, or penalty shown is exact — laws change and apply differently to different businesses. RuleGoose is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or acting on behalf of the EU, the FTC, Etsy, or any other regulator or platform.
Please use the Service lawfully and don't:
You keep all rights to the information you type or paste in. The checkers run in your browser; the only times anything is transmitted are described in our Privacy Policy. When you use the AI generator, you grant us a limited licence to process your inputs solely to produce your draft. Don't paste anything you're not comfortable processing for that purpose, and don't rely on the Service to store anything — it doesn't.
The core checkers and the RuleGoose Score are free. Optional Pro unlocks AI generation for a tool as a one-time US$12 purchase, and Rule-Watch monitoring is a recurring subscription — both are sold and processed by Gumroad, our merchant of record. Your purchase, billing, taxes, and refunds are subject to Gumroad's terms and refund handling; we'll always try to make a genuine problem right — email us.
RuleGoose, the goose mascot ("Clause"), the site design, copy, and the underlying checkers are owned by us and protected by IP laws. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the Service for its intended purpose. The compliant copy the generator produces for you is yours to use. Official legal texts we link to belong to their respective publishers.
We rely on a few processors to run the Service — currently Netlify (hosting & form handling), Gumroad (payments), and Anthropic (the AI behind Pro generation). Your use of features that touch them is also subject to their terms, and their handling of data is summarised in our Privacy Policy.
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement. We don't warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, current, or that it will detect every issue or make you compliant. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all such warranties.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, RuleGoose and its operator won't be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for any fines, penalties, lost profits, or losses arising from your use of (or inability to use) the Service or from reliance on its output. Where liability can't be excluded, our total liability is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or US$50. Some jurisdictions don't allow these limits, so parts may not apply to you.
You agree to indemnify RuleGoose against claims arising from your misuse of the Service or your breach of these terms.
We may update the Service or these terms as it evolves. Material changes will be reflected by the "last reviewed" date below; continuing to use the Service after a change means you accept the updated terms.
These terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which RuleGoose's operator is established, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Questions about these terms? Email hello@rulegoose.com.
